A branch in the Lands and Minerals Sector (LMS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) that aims to ensure the safety of the public and of workers in Canada’s explosives industry by:
- Administering the Explosives Act and regulations
- Advancing explosives safety and security technology
The Explosives Safety and Security Branch is comprised of the Program, Policy and Administration (PPA) Division, the Canadian Explosives Research Laboratory (CanmetCERL) and Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) that has regional offices across Canada:
- ERD Central (located at 580 Booth Street)
- ERD Eastern Region
- ERD Western Region
- ERD Pacific Region
