A division of the Surveyor General Branch, part of the Lands and Minerals Sector (LMS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), that provides the statutory framework, standards and information systems and the land survey ground infrastructure that identifies, documents, registers and protects the boundaries of property rights and enables land transactions on Canada Lands (National Parks, First Nations Reserves, the Offshore, and the Northern Territories), which in turn provides boundary certainty that stakeholders can rely upon. The Surveyor General provides boundary advice and land surveying expertise on Canada Lands to other departments, and also participates on interprovincial boundary commissions.
The division has regional offices in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
