Key Projects, Programs and Initiatives
BCIC Ignite Active
BCIC Ignite, launched in 2016 by the BC Innovation Council, has been specifically designed for industry-driven academic research in the natural resources and applied sciences in British Columbia. BCIC Ignite is a cost-shared program, anticipated to have two intakes per year. Awards are valued to a maximum of $300,000. The size and scope of the competitions in future years will depend on the availability of funding.
BCIC Ignite is intended to provide funding for collaborative, industry-driven, academic research leading to commercializable projects. Teams must be working on project(s) with the potential for significant benefit to British Columbia. Technologies should have a clearly articulated solution to an existing industry problem, be beyond proof of concept but pre-commercial, and demonstrate the capacity to move the proposed innovation to market within a 3- year timeframe.
