The Centre E4m brings together professors and researchers from seven departments in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Their work focuses on one or more of four key research areas: geology and mineral exploration, design of mining facilities and operations, development and optimization of minerallurgical processes, and environmentally responsible development of mineral resources. The Centre also seeks to promote collaboration with other research groups in Quebec and the rest of Canada.
The scientific mission of the Centre E4m is to develop knowledge about exploration, geomechanics, ore processing and environmental issues associated with mineral resources. Its training mission is to ensure that the next generation of researchers in these fields is highly qualified. The Centre is also mandated to keep scientists and the general public informed about scientific developments in mineral resources geology and engineering.
